Took a trip to Greece in end October – it was low peak season so most of the islands were quiet and very very peaceful (note that some of the experiences I had in the islands wouldn't be the same as if you visit in the peak season!)

Getting there

We took a midnight flight (11 hours) from SG to Athens, landed in Athens in the morning and headed to out Airbnb. We took a train (45 mins) which costed €10 per person, my reccomedation would be to just take a cab which has a flat rate of €38-40 per ride from ATH to the city if you have 3 or more people with you!

Accommodation

The accommodation was really great – the location was a short walk from the city area where there are lots of food and shopping to do, the host was super helpful and responsive and and most importantly, the apartment was very clean :) Link here.

We spent day 1 settling in and check-in was at 3pm so we roamed awhile for a bit, got something to eat and went out again in the late afternoon to explore the city area. There are lots of variety for food from restaurants to gyros stalls, ranging from different price points so I would say food was definitely not a problem for us in Athens!

Day 2

Visited the acropolis museum after having a quick breakfast on the go! There is an entrance fee of €5 for general admission. Photos are not allowed in the museum but i snuck a few :')

The museum is a must go if you want to know more about the Acropolis and to see the monuments that they have kept since hundreds of years ago! We spent about 1-2 hours in the museum and then headed for lunch. You can choose to eat at the restaurant in the museum if you'd like but we decided to go for something more local! (my first bite of falafel and i fell in loveee)

Headed to the Acropolis after getting out tummies filled – the entrance of the Acropolis is just a across the Museum so everything was super near! *The entrance fee for the Acropolis is €20

I would say to wear shoes as it would be more comfortable for the 30 min climb up! We walked up at around 3pm and stayed there till golden hour which was really really nice, the skies were so blue and the weather was just perfect. The Acropolis closes at 630pm if i'm not wrong so make sure to give yourself enough time to take a slow walk up and time to sit and enjoy the view/ weather.

We had dinner around the city area before walking back to our apartment and taking the night to pack up for our flight to Milos the next day :)

Athens > Milos in my next post x
