Bali Part 4

I actually went to Kanto Lampo waterfall before coming to Canggu (because like i mentioned i didn't have enough time the day before) so this definitely wouldn't take up an entire day. But basically, we travelled out to Canggu to chill at La Brisa on our last day!

There is an entrance fee of i think SGD10-20 and the beach club is so cute!! I loved the vibes and the beach was just a staircase down. There was a pool and lots of day beds and hammocks and a DJ too!

The only thing i didn't like was that there were no showers so I couldn't bathe after hanging out in the pool.....? I think they're expanding and renovating so they might be working on that :)

It is such a pretty place to hang out and watch the sunset!

There is a Nalu Bowls store about 10 minutes walk away so if you're into smoothie bowls you could probably have some before heading to La Brisa!

Before leaving for the airport, we stopped at Deus Cafe for dinner. It was just a few minutes drive away and our driver recommended it to us! I didn't take any photos but the dish that stood out was the White Snapper with rice, we weren't expecting it but it was good!

Thats all for my Bali trip itinerary – I hope my recommendations help a bit if you're reading this because you're planning a trip to Bali soon :)

Bali Part 3

Exploring Ubud for the first time was super nice!! We set out at around 9am and headed to the Bali swing first. I know, it is very unnecessary to pay 35USD to go on the swing but at least it was fun HAHA

The 35USD includes lunch and an unlimited swing time but to be honest, it was so touristy and the queues to get on the swings were so long that I only went on it once. There were many swings in the rice terraces too so I feel that this is really not a must go unless u're dying for a pic on the swing then by all means!

If you don't wanna go on the swing but wanna enter, you can but there's an entrance fee of 12USD which includes food and some random photo spots (not v nice tbh)

Anw, there were other 'attractions' too like this birds nest thingy and other photos spots!

We left after lunch and headed to Tegalalang Rice Terrace. AGAIN, please put on sunscreen cos i was getting burnt pt.2 here while walking down the terraces!!

You will need to do a bit of walking here so just be prepared and dress accordingly! Hahaha we were super annoyed with our bags cos they were such a burden!!! The streets along the entrance of the rice terrace have plenty of stores selling those cute wicker bags that everyone has been reselling online so please get them here if you want hahahaha

I went to the Ubud Art Market after this which wasn't too far away (~20mins). There were lots of wicker bags and other items like kitchenware, clothes and souvenirs – it isn't a MUST to visit but it's quite cute and since its near, why not!

We ended this really good day by having dinner at Naughty Nuri's Seminyak! There is one in Ubud too but we decided to travel closer to our hotel to have dinner. The food here was the bomb. Gotta thank my colleague for the recommendation!!! It was the best meal I had for sure!

The ribs, mac and cheese, truffle fries and grilled chicken were SO GOOD. Very impressed and the service was very awesome too!!

//

We intended to visit the Kanto Lampo Waterfall on the same day we visited the swing and rice terrace but it was too late so we had to do this the next day!

I'd say that if you give the swing a miss in the morning and go straight to the rice terraces then the art market, you'd probably be able to make it to the waterfall to end off your day before the sun sets :) It is about an hour away from the art market and you have to pay an entrance fee of SGD1/2 only.

I have seen waterfalls but i've never been into/ under one! The water was really cold and the pressure was crazy, i honestly almost couldn't stand up hahahaha it was so fun though!! You definitely have to bring extra clothes to experience this so go prepared!

There are toilets and 'showers' there but they're quite run down so I would recommend to just bring a towel or a change of clothes!

Next post will be a short one on Canggu!

Bali Part 2

We visited Nusa Penida Island on Day 4!

Nusa Penida is accessible by boat from Sanur! I booked a driver/package and it included: hotel transfer + boat rides to and fro + driver for the entire Nusa Penida Island + lunch! The package costed around SGD80 each - actually it included snorkelling w the manta rays too but there honestly wasn't much time so we gave that a miss!

My driver's contact here: Rod, +62 818-0533-3747

The boat ride: So the ride from Sanur to Nusa Penida took about 40 minutes and i took the earliest ferry at 830am! One thing to note is that the ferry cannot dock right at the shore so you definitely have to walk in the water to get onto the ferry! The day i went wasn't too bad so the water was only up to my thighs but I have personally experienced having to swim to my boat before in Boracay so just take note (don't wear tight pants that can't be folded up or shoes...?)

The driver was already waiting for us when we arrived and he brought us first to Angel Billabong and Broken Beach. (about 1 hour drive from the ferry dock - note that the roads are extremely bumpy!!)

Angel Billabong:

To be honest I expected a lot before visiting because of what I saw on IG but in reality it was soooo crowded!!!! But it was super calming to just stand before the wide ocean and enjoy the sound of the waves :')

Broken Beach:

Broken beach was so freaking beautiful too!! Do remember to put on sunscreen when exploring Nusa Penida cos it is extremely hot and I got really badly burnt here hahaha

We went to Kelingking Beach after this which was around 45 mins away! The roads were super bumpy once again. We had a pit stop and had lunch before exploring but we didn't go down to the beach cos it was gonna take 30 mins to go down and 1.5 hours to come back up :(

There is no better way to show the beauty of this place than a video!! The water was glistening and it was so pretty :') I would highly recommend to go down to the beach if anyone had the luxury of time at Nusa Penida!

We took the 430pm boat ride back to Sanur and then had dinner at Motel Mexicola, Seminyak!

I literally didn't take any pics here even tho it's such a 'cool' place on IG cos we were starving and had to wait 45 minutes for our seat and when we wanted to go elsewhere they finally  had a seat and brought us upstairs where there was literally no one.... I had quite a bad experience w the service but the food was not bad, just a little pricey for the quantity!

Next post will cover where to go in Ubud!

Bali Part I

Hey everyone! It has been forever since I posted anything here but since a few people asked me for my itinerary for my recent trip to Bali, I decided that it'll be the easiest to share the details and visuals here x

First things first, accommodation:

I stayed at Amnaya Resort Kuta and booked it through Agoda. The hotel was in a great location – 15 minutes from DPS airport, 2 minutes from Discovery Mall and Waterbom! (This trip was initially for just two people so we decided to book a hotel instead of a villa! I ended up going w my fam but we decided to stick to this accom since I had already booked a room.)

The hotel's cleanliness and service was really good and I was super pleased with the room!

If you're intending to stay at this hotel, I would highly recommend to book the room that comes with breakfast or at least try the breakfast there (SGD15 per pax) cause its super worth it!

The menu is good and portions are quite big + they allow sharing :) I think you can check out more on their site!

Next, simcard! I have been travelling with the Changi Recommends wifi router for my past trips but for Bali i decided to just get a simcard cos I didnt wanna have to carry around an extra device! I ordered mine on Klook and I did this the night before (i was arriving at 7+am the next morning) and I was so amazed cos it was so last minute but when I arrived, there was a Klook staff waiting at the arrival and he helped me set everything up!!! link here.

The downside was that the connection wasn't the best at some outskirt areas but overall it was ok! I only paid less than SGD10 for it so i'm not complaining!

Lastly, getting around. I hired a driver for most of the days for my trip just because it was more convenient! I highly recommend hiring a driver if you are travelling out a lot and if you have more than 4/5 people in your group (so that you won't have to split cabs etc) My driver's contact: Made,  +62 813-3812-3808 he is proficient in english and knows the directions to all the places i wanted to go to which was really good!

//

Day 1:

After checking in and settling down, we headed to Nook for late lunch! This place was recommended to me for the views and Nasi Campur.

Each dish was only SGD5.50 and the view of the paddy fields was very pretty. I wouldn't say I highly recommend this place but it is quite an experience and their menu is extensive so if you had the time, you could possibly give NOOK a try!

We didn't wanna do too much on our first day so we went to do some shopping in Seminyak and tried Mad Pops!

If you haven't seen or heard about Mad Pops, i'd only recommend it to fans of coconut flavoured ice cream or vegans hahaha! All the ice cream flavours are 100% dairy free and plant based.

Some other shops we walked pass/ shopped at were:
1. Kim Soo – nice homeware (heard the food's good too)
2. Sea Circus Bali – cute photo spot!
3. Neon Palms – cute clothes

Day 2:

We started our day by going for brunch at Sisterfields. When I visited Bali last year, I ate at Sisterfields too and this trip it was a must go for me — the food is great!!!

The store has actually expanded and this trip I didn't even have to queue! (we queued for almost 30 mins last time I came)

We wanted to chill so we headed over to Mrs Sippy which was around the corner too. There is an entrance fee of ~SGD10 per person but you get a voucher worth the same amount upon entering so you get to get drinks/food with it! It's really quite worth it in my opinion. The place is very nice to chill and have a dip in the pool, it was such a pity i wasn't dressed!

After heading back, we were aimlessly walking around and ended up on a black sand beach in Kuta!

It was so nice that we didn't have to travel out for this and the sunset was really nice!! We had dinner at the Boardwalk which is a beachfront restaurant along this beach. We settled for it cos it was nearby and everything was closing cos of Nyepi but the food was pretty good!

Continuing in my next posts which will be about exploring Nusa Penida Island!
