Getting there
We took a flight from Athens to Milos via Aegan Air which was only 25 minutes long! It was just a tiny propeller plane which seated around 50 passengers. From the Milos Airport, we took a taxi to our airbnb which was 7 minutes away and costed €15.
Accommodation & getting around
As the island was so so quiet due to the non-peak season, we booked a hotel which was nearer to the city centre Adamas which made it more convenient for us to walk over (6 mins) to take a taxi. The more popular way of getting around is definitely to rent a car but 1. it is left hand drive and 2. the cars are manual so we went with taxis the entire trip.
Link to my hotel here. *I don't 100% recommend this hotel because it just wasn't the BEST and nicest but still very affordable and o-k-a-y i guess. It was a true struggle to find a good accommodation in Milos but i think it wouldn't be a problem to book an Airbnb if you decide to rent a car!
There are a number of restaurants, shops and supermarkets at the City Centre in Milos Island. One thing to note is that the shops' opening hours are pretty odd: they opened from eg. 10am-1pm and 5pm onwards. Apparently the culture there is to spend time with their families in the day and then work in the morning and at night. Adamas is also the go-to place to get a taxi to get around the island!
Day 1
After checking in and settling down, we took a taxi over to Klima Beach.
Getting there
It was ~15 min Taxi ride from Adamas and costed €18-20!
Klima is so so beautiful. It's actually a a stretch of 'Syrmata' which are fisherman houses! It was really quiet when i visited and we stayed for the sunset which was definitely one of the best ones i experienced in my life :')
Day 2
Literally waited for THIS DAY the entire few months of planning! Day 2 was spend in Sarakiniko Beach!
Getting there
It was ~15 min Taxi ride from the hotel and costed €10!
Sarakiniko was truly a glimpse of my dreams – the biggest blue sea, the best weather and the warm sun that didn't leave us with a burn :')
We spent half a day here just soaking it in and exploring. The are no showers or toilets there so if you want to go into the water at the beach you can but bring a towel!
We headed over to Paliochori Beach for dinner and sunset! This was also another very calm and quiet pebble beach. We ate fresh seafood at Sirocco Restaurant which i highly recommend. The food was good and apparently cooked in hot sand!
Milos > Santorini in my next post! x
